Molina Healthcare Of Michigan Appoints New Director Of Utilization Management

(Troy, MI) Molina Healthcare of Michigan appointed Vernal Blakley, RN, as Director of Utilization Management. Blakley is responsible for directing Molina Healthcare of Michigan's utilization, case and disease management functions. Her role is to develop and implement measures and controls to ensure quality of care and cost effectiveness.

Blakley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Oakland University, a Masters in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University (CMU), and is a 2003 candidate for CMU's PhD program. She is also certified in Case Management, Utilization Management, Quality Management and Managed Care.

“Vernal Blakley brings a wealth of experience to Molina Healthcare because of her strong background in both the hospital and health plan arena,” says Roman T. Kulich, President and CEO of Molina Healthcare of Michigan.

Blakley served as Director of Utilization/Resource Management at St. John Oakland Hospital; Director of Medical Management for Coordinated Health Care for Detroit Medical Center Managed Care; and most recently, Vice President of Medical Management for OmniCare Health Plan.

Molina Healthcare of Michigan is dedicated to serving the special needs of Medicaid patients in over 30 counties throughout the state in both urban and rural communities, including the Detroit metropolitan and Grand Rapids areas.
