(LONG BEACH, CA) Molina Medical Centers' Wilmington location is celebrating its 20th Year Anniversary of providing quality healthcare services to the local community on Monday, September 18, 2000, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at 1250 North Avalon Boulevard in Wilmington.
On hand for the celebration will be Molina Medical Centers' senior management, Wilmington's community and business leaders, as well as patients and friends.
Molina Medical Centers is part of Molina Healthcare of California, Inc., a growing healthcare company headquartered in Long Beach, California. Molina's mission is to provide access to healthcare services to people who have traditionally lacked access to care. This commitment to breaking down barriers that includes cost, language, culture and education, began with the founding father's vision—the late C. David Molina, MD—who opened his first office in Wilmington in 1980 to serve low-income patients.
"My father started this company as a small clinic in Wilmington serving patients who virtually had no access to healthcare," explains Martha (Molina) Bernadett, MD, Vice President of Clinic Operations for Molina Medical Centers. "While he understood the business side of running a medical practice, he always emphasized the importance of establishing a relationship with his patients and their families. Even as the health plan grew, he stuck to those values, and more importantly, he instilled those values in each of us. I strongly believe that one of the reasons we are still here today in Wilmington is because we have never wavered in our commitment to our patients."
Today, Molina Medical Centers operates 22 staff model offices throughout Northern and Southern California and continues Dr. C. David Molina's mission of emphasizing individualized care that places the physician in the pivotal role of managing healthcare.
